Tribal Energy Access NIETC

In further support of OSPA’s efforts to bring needed extra high voltage (EHV) transmission to the OSPA Tribal reservations to unlock Tribal renewable energy resources, the Department of Energy (DOE) is advancing the Tribal Energy Access National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC) designation in the Upper Great Plains to the third phase of the designation process. The Tribal Energy Access NIETC is just one of three proposed designations to  advance and the only NIETC to address Tribal needs and goals. A NIETC designation would mean that the EHV transmission projects within the area are eligible for federal financing programs (i.e., Transmission Facility Financing Program (TFFP), Transmission Facilitation Program (TFP)) and expedited permitting.
